Nearly all of my working life has been spent on tax and related matters. So my twilight years are no different... tax compliance, tax planning, watching the development of the UK tax code and helping clients understand the best way forward.
I like to get my head around complex situations and legislation and put these into a format that clients can easily grasp, enabling them to make sound decisions. I particularly enjoy the challenges of estate planning.

After 3-4 years with HMRC I worked for 28 years in the tax department of Myers Clark, a leading firm of accountants in Watford, where I developed my grasp of personal and business tax. I also gained valuable experience relating to deceased estates and trusts.
I am the managing partner of C&H Stedman and my role is to both look after existing clients and bring new clients onboard. I tend now to do much less of the day to day work and concentrate on meeting with clients (either virtually or face to face) and looking at opportunities for saving clients tax and bringing in efficiencies. I am a great believer in accountability and have an advisory role with some of my clients so they have someone to be accountable to.
I love discussing a client’s business with them and looking for opportunities both in savings and pricing.
I am a volunteer with the RRT charity and enjoy socialising with family and friends.
I have visited Jamaica three times to help friends in business, this was all voluntary work. Jamaica is a truly beautiful island!
Try to keep track of all the work happening, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. I also work on the internal systems and find some time to get involved in management accounts and tax work too!
I love helping clients understand their numbers and finding them tax saving opportunities. I also enjoy automating processes, both internally and supporting clients with it externally.
Nothing better than doing some form of exercise, either in the gym or out walking.
Shortly after passing my driving test I had the experience of a horse landing on the front bonnet of my car!
I look after clients’ accounts departments. For some of our clients they don’t have an internal accounts team, I look after all that for them. This includes sending invoices, processing purchase invoices, looking after the accounts inbox and phone line as well as dealing with the day-to-date tasks that arise. I also look after other bookkeeping and the general office admin.
I love the organising that comes with it! Often when we take over accounts departments they includes processes that have been in place for years and so I enjoy being able to modernise them and streamline everything to make everything more efficient.

When I rode a bike for the first time I ended up in a bed of stinging nettles at the bottom of the hill!
I process management accounts, annual accounts, and Tax Returns for clients. I also do a little bookkeeping and am a certified Xero advisor.
I love working with numbers - and that's what I do all the time!

Most of all I like the team of people I work with. I do not believe I have ever in the past worked in such a friendly work environment. I also love excel and making lists. Yes I do!
Outside of work I enjoy hiking, bowling and reading books - especially ones set in at least a century ago. Also I wouldn't say no to watching a game of volleyball or a ski-jumping contest.
I spent four days in a medieval Polish castle teaching alchemy to 150 people from around the world. Twice!
